Again, thick foliage has pretty much dominated the old Seaboard freight main. You can see the old C&WC in the background and the concrete base was the southward home signal. I can only imagine the ink of the ACL/SAL merger hadn't even dried when SCL forces moved in to tear out the line north of this point, however, this line actually existed south of this point as the Coosaw Subdivision of the SCL Savannah division. From timetables, a connection existed between the SAL and the C&WC in the SE quad basically creating a alternate mainline between Yemassee, SC on the ACL and Savannah, GA. Also, two sidings that were once standard 100 car length SAL sidings were actually increased to 160 car capacity at Boyd and Levy and SCL continued the use of CTC installed by the SAL on this segment, however, the timetable didn't list schedules for this Sub and later the whole thing to Savannah would dissappear. |
